Blushing Valentine’s Day Look

Some days are easier than others when it comes to getting ready. Some days it’s out of the question. Since becoming a mom to two boys under 3 I’ve had to adjust my makeup routine. It’s now all about timing and what I can get done in 15 minutes or less, and this is honestly a really great routine I have now that can look really clean and polished or glam like my days back at the MAC counter.

My skin has went through a roller coaster in the last year. Before Remi it was combination with a decent amount of oil in the t-zone, come shortly after finding out I was pregnant it became extremely irritated by everything and dry as a desert. My whole pregnancy my skin was so dry and it seemed like no matter what I used nothing helped long term, it did clear up though on the plus side! Once Remi arrived the clear skin lasted about 3 weeks and then the oil came back with a vengeance. What didn’t disappear though was the dryness, how could my skin be so oily and so dry at the same time!?! Hormones.. simple answer is hormones.

Fast forward to now and my hormones are finally leveling themselves out and I’m able to do a makeup routine I don’t have to adjust so much because of dry or oily skin. I pretty much have my skin figured out at this point.

To achieve this look I started with some Image Skin Care Matte Face Lotion, which has some SPF in it also. Since the matte helps control the oil, to add a little hydration back into my skin I used the Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer. This is nice because it helps hide pores, blocks oil but adds hydration, and adds a tint of color to the skin. My go to foundation since literally high school has been MAC studio fix fluid, I will sometimes switch between this and Estée Lauder Double Wear but usually only do DW when it’s hot out since it helps fight humidity a little better. In Studio Fix i am NC37 for reference. For Concealer I like an oldie but goodie tried and true MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer (NW20). I use this under my eyes and down the bridge of my nose just to high light a little. To set I like Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder since it’s light weight and a small amount dusted over the face goes a long way. To Bronze I use MAC Harmony and just hit the high points on my face where the sun would normally tan. You can add blush if you like to the apples of your cheeks, today I did but normally I just stick with bronzer to quicken up my routine. Blush used was Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic in First Love. For Eye brows I prefer a pencil, I really like Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in the color Carmel for my blonde hair and olive skin. Her pencils are precise and don’t smudge no matter how hot it gets which is great for the oily girls! Since we seem to see a long wear trend here can you guess what eye liner and mascara I prefer!? MAC again! I LOOVEEEEEEE MAC’s Pro Long Wear Eyeliner in the shade Definedly Black, it is so dark and Smokey and it glides on like perfection. I used to love showing this liner to customers when I worked at MAC because you can draw a line on your hand, let it set for about 30 seconds and then try and smudge it and it won’t budge, It’s amazing! For Mascara I like MAC Extended Play Mascara in Giga Black. To finish off the look I wanted to go against the usual red lip and reach for a Pink. So I chose Candy Yum Yum by you guessed it, MAC! For those who don’t want such a bold pink you could try MAC Angel or Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. If you want to take this one more step fancy just add you a nice strip of lashes and you are date night ready!

I hope you enjoyed this little “how to” Valentine’s Day look!

Trendy Baby Boy Clothing Haul

So it has been 11 1/2 weeks since our sweet baby boy has joined the world, and I am in utter shock at how quickly time has flown by. Having a 10, almost 11 year old, along with a 2 year old toddler has just made the time fly. Mainly because there is no time to stop if we’re being totally honest. With Roman I felt like I could indulge in every little moment and milestone because it was just him who really needed all my attention. Lincoln (my bonus son/ 10 year old) was 8 at the time and was at an age where he could self entertain, do his home work, read, play outside, etc.. but he was also only with us 4 days out of the week. Roman is now 2 and I want to make sure I give him as much attention as possible but I also lose time to watch Remi grow up. It’s one of those things as a parent that is just part of it. I am beyond blessed to have 3 beautiful boys in my life and wouldn’t change it for anything.

So let’s back track now, Remi is now almost 3 months old, and boy is he growing like a dang weed! Like seriously the boy is huge! He is over 24 inches long and getting close to 16lbs! When I first had him I didn’t think he was going to be so big but man I was wrong! The boy is in 6 month clothes, I didn’t have any left over baby clothes from Roman in this size because we have had other babies in the family and we shared clothes with them, which makes me happy to know we all can share items with each other and things aren’t going unused. So I bought Remi a few sleepers and some little sets to get him by for a while. I didn’t want to spend a whole lot on clothes since they grow so fast but I was happy to find some good deals and honestly some really cute clothes! They definitely get cuter every year. I don’t remember them being this cute when I had Roman!

I’ll start with the items from H&M!

I bought a 5 pack of Black Onsies that are made of seriously the softest material ever! You can’t go wrong with black long sleeve basics, these will literally go with anything.

I also found the cutest pair of Cream and Black Pants. I thought these would be cute paired with one of the black onesies.

On to sets! Can you believe how cute that mustard/hummus colored striped pant and top set is!? Sets are so nice because you don’t have to put much thought into an outfit, you just put it on and then add whatever “accessories” you want (shoes, beanie, paci clip, paci, bow, whatever it may be)! I knew I wanted a few sets, the black and white stripes with brown pants and collar accent just looked so clean and chic I couldn’t pass it by because I actually just ordered the perfect pair of black Mocs from http://www.anemoneandpoppy.com to pair with it! I’ll drop a pic below! (Picture is from Anemone & Poppy website)

Lastly what would a baby boy be without his perfectly sweet little baby blue outfit? This was it, it is incredibly soft. I feel like so many people sleep on H&M when it comes to baby clothes, their quality is unreal. Don’t sleep on them!!

Onsies, sleepers, pajamas, call them what you will, they are a staple in every baby’s wardrobe. They’re quick, easy, and make diaper changes efficient! Picked up a few cuties for little man, they’re all great quality and I wanted to pick patterns I knew I wouldn’t get tired of since I’m not going crazy buying a ton of clothes this time only for him to grow out of. I also grabbed some sweet bibs since it seems Remi is starting to teeth, drooling has commenced!

How To Make Dirty Hair Look and Feel Refreshed Again, A Step By Step Guide

So I here I am two months after giving birth to our second child, while I manage to be able to sneak in the quick daily body showers it’s not every day that I get to wash my hair. If we’re being brutally honest I probably wash my hair every 3-4 days, sometimes I stretch it to 5. Some of you may think “ew gross” but honestly if you really read into it or ask most hairstylist the less you wash your hair the better. Now I’m not a professional so I will give no advice on this but, I can give you my personal experience with it and how I make it work with the busy schedule of being a mom.

My typical week after washing my hair looks as follows:

Day 1: Hair is so fresh and so clean! No products generally needed this day, maybe hair spray if the style calls for it!

Day 2: Oh girl you’re looking a little deflated! Let me just throw in some dry shampoo at those roots to give you a little life again! *spritz spritz* “ahhhhhh!” Much better! Maybe a little teasing to top off that extra volume!

Day 3: (Looks in mirror) Yikes! Normally this day is the WORST for me. My hair is looking greasy, it’s laying all kinds of funky ways, looks totally dull and flat, and has no volume at all. So first things first I brush my hair and part it the way I want for the day. If it’s not working like I’m wanting it to I’ll take my spray bottle and pump a few bits of water onto it, grab the blow dryer and rough dry for about 30 seconds until it’s no longer damp, and doing what I want. Next I will grab my dry shampoo and section my hair, spray, and massage into my scalp. For me this helps fluff the root and massage the dry shampoo into the extra oil I’m trying to rid. Next I address the volume at the ends and body of my hair I am lacking. I like to use either a texturizing or volumizing spray and position the bottle below my hair facing the nozzle pointing up into the ends and middle of my hair. Do a few spritz of this and then again do a little fluff at my root and *BAM!* she’s a whole new woman!

Day 4: I basically do everything the same as above except by this point I usually almost always have to back comb my hair after I put in my products so that the products don’t make my hair heavy. Normally I will only back comb the very top section of my hair around the part line and that does the trick!

Day 5: If it gets to this point I repeat everything from Day 4!

Let me just tell ya, mommin’ ain’t easy BUT it is the most amazing thing ever! Babies are only babies for a short time so enjoy it. Basque in the oily pits of your hair, love them littles so hard, because before you know it your routine will return to “normal” and you’ll miss the days where they needed you so much you couldn’t even wash you hair.

What No One Will Ever Tell You About The Best Photography Spots

Have you ever been scrolling through your feed and just been stopped in your tracks by a beautiful photo? Literally stop and think “holy cow I don’t know where that was shot but dang thats so freaking stunning, I would love to do something like that!” Well, I’ve got some news for you, those shots are usually either right on private land, in a VERY awkward spot to get to, or smack dab in the middle of the public where every waking eye is looking at you. Now, don’t get me wrong, not all photo ops are that way but I can guarantee you lots are.

I have a little story of my own that just so happens to fit right in to all three of the categories I just described. However, like I mentioned these are THE seemingly best spots for a stunning picture. It also helps when you have a bad ass photographer who’s down to conquer it all with you.

A couple weeks ago my family and I were on vacation in Estes Park, Colorado. We go usually once maybe twice a year but within the last couple years our family has experienced a major baby boom. Tons of littles which is the BEST but, also makes family vacations a little more complicated. We braved the 9 hour road trip and all headed into Estes though. While we were there I thought it would be the perfect place to take some mountain maternity pictures since my husband and I married in Estes Park in 2015.

My sister is a photographer based here in Wichita, Kansas. Newer to the game but you would NEVER know it. She is one of those girls who can pick up any talent and kill it. Annoying right? I freaking love it, and she is so inspiring. She suggested we drive around to look for some spots to take pictures. I had two different dresses so I wanted two different locations. Now recently Estes, Devil’s Gulch, and Glen Haven were hit with some major flooding which changed a lot of the land down along river in the canyon. We used to have a spot we would go to that was perfect for wading but also walking through some waterfalls without being deep. Hoping to find this spot we quickly realized it no longer existed after the flood came through 😦 .

This lead us to plan B, what plan B was we really didn’t even know. We kept driving and noticed this gorgeous open pasture surrounded by trees on the foothill of the canyon. It was picture perfect I tell you… pristine, well kept, beautiful sunlight peeking through the trees and a gravel drive that lead right up to it. We whip in and park the car and the first thing we notice is a “Private Property” sign.. Sh*t. Thinking quickly I googled the area we were in and actually come to find it is a public housing development where many homes are rented out for the year. I figured if we park and take pictures no one is going to know if we are staying there for our visit or else where. We even had multiple cars drive by, one being a firetruck and no one said a word about us not being allowed to do so.

Still nervous as hell we ran out to quickly snap some shots and let me tell you.. it was all worth it! Let me also add I don’t condone you breaking the law if you see a Private Property sign, do a little research and see if its actually private.. We just got lucky and it happened to be open land with an outdated sign.

Afterwards we called my husband and told him to get ready since we were on to shoot dress number 2. We were staying on Estes Lake and right by the golf course. Thinking it was peak time for Golden Hour the golf course had some beautiful land on it that would be perfect for pictures. We pick him up and make the minute drive down to the lake/course and EVERYONE.. like EVERYONE is out walking enjoying the evening all along the path. If people weren’t walking they were fishing along the path or on the course finishing up their golf round for the evening. We figured we were already there we might as well just go with it and find whatever spots we want and ignore every waking eye watching us.

The first spot was literally right by a fisherman. My sister being the awesome creative mind that she is was able to work out angles that cut him out but, he literally was staring at us every time I looked over at him. SO AWKWARDDDD…! Again though, the final images made it all worth it. I have some of the most beautiful photos of my husband and our baby to treasure in the same town we got married in 4 years ago.

This last spot was tricky one. You would never know it but behind me was a steep slope with a little pond of yucky moss water just waiting for me to eat it and fall into. Now if you didn’t know this, you don’t exactly have the best balance when your pregnant. My husband was sweetly talking sh*t in the background telling me “don’t go falling in!” -_- Thanks dear. Happy to say I made it out alive.

I want to give a BIG thank you to PinkBlush for sending me this gorgeous Burgundy maternity dress, It truly is a perfect piece! #sponsoredbypinkblush . You can also shop the yellow dress I am wearing here , also PinkBlush. I highly recommend checking them out for ANY of your maternity needs.
