Blushing Valentine’s Day Look

Some days are easier than others when it comes to getting ready. Some days it’s out of the question. Since becoming a mom to two boys under 3 I’ve had to adjust my makeup routine. It’s now all about timing and what I can get done in 15 minutes or less, and this is honestly a really great routine I have now that can look really clean and polished or glam like my days back at the MAC counter.

My skin has went through a roller coaster in the last year. Before Remi it was combination with a decent amount of oil in the t-zone, come shortly after finding out I was pregnant it became extremely irritated by everything and dry as a desert. My whole pregnancy my skin was so dry and it seemed like no matter what I used nothing helped long term, it did clear up though on the plus side! Once Remi arrived the clear skin lasted about 3 weeks and then the oil came back with a vengeance. What didn’t disappear though was the dryness, how could my skin be so oily and so dry at the same time!?! Hormones.. simple answer is hormones.

Fast forward to now and my hormones are finally leveling themselves out and I’m able to do a makeup routine I don’t have to adjust so much because of dry or oily skin. I pretty much have my skin figured out at this point.

To achieve this look I started with some Image Skin Care Matte Face Lotion, which has some SPF in it also. Since the matte helps control the oil, to add a little hydration back into my skin I used the Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer. This is nice because it helps hide pores, blocks oil but adds hydration, and adds a tint of color to the skin. My go to foundation since literally high school has been MAC studio fix fluid, I will sometimes switch between this and Estée Lauder Double Wear but usually only do DW when it’s hot out since it helps fight humidity a little better. In Studio Fix i am NC37 for reference. For Concealer I like an oldie but goodie tried and true MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer (NW20). I use this under my eyes and down the bridge of my nose just to high light a little. To set I like Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder since it’s light weight and a small amount dusted over the face goes a long way. To Bronze I use MAC Harmony and just hit the high points on my face where the sun would normally tan. You can add blush if you like to the apples of your cheeks, today I did but normally I just stick with bronzer to quicken up my routine. Blush used was Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic in First Love. For Eye brows I prefer a pencil, I really like Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in the color Carmel for my blonde hair and olive skin. Her pencils are precise and don’t smudge no matter how hot it gets which is great for the oily girls! Since we seem to see a long wear trend here can you guess what eye liner and mascara I prefer!? MAC again! I LOOVEEEEEEE MAC’s Pro Long Wear Eyeliner in the shade Definedly Black, it is so dark and Smokey and it glides on like perfection. I used to love showing this liner to customers when I worked at MAC because you can draw a line on your hand, let it set for about 30 seconds and then try and smudge it and it won’t budge, It’s amazing! For Mascara I like MAC Extended Play Mascara in Giga Black. To finish off the look I wanted to go against the usual red lip and reach for a Pink. So I chose Candy Yum Yum by you guessed it, MAC! For those who don’t want such a bold pink you could try MAC Angel or Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. If you want to take this one more step fancy just add you a nice strip of lashes and you are date night ready!

I hope you enjoyed this little “how to” Valentine’s Day look!

High Waisted Festival Denim Style Skirts

Yep, it’s a mouth full alright! But you heard it correct! DENIM SKIRTS… yes I said it, denim skirts are BACK! Now, if I’m being totally honest I never thought this was a trend I would get back into. I’ve looked into old photos recently seeing my early to mid 2000s girl living her best life and I couldn’t help but think “Buzz, your girlfriend.. Woof!” Mainly because all I wore were the classic denim skirts with the “In” name brand shirt with their name displayed all across it. Thankfully trends evolve, am I right? Now days it’s like all past trends have just kind of mushed together into one, and to be honest, I’m DIGGING it! There has never been such a wide array of style before and it’s such a beautiful thing to see! Which brings me back to denim skirts. There are all kinds of them out there right now! From high waisted, to distressed, embellished, button downs, multi colored, colored denim.. I mean the list goes on and on!! If you’re a big Coachella follower you probably noticed this a ton then. I highly recommend you take a little look into if you haven’t. If you would even like I can do a complete post on differently styles and places you can find them. If you need a little inspiration as well I would be happy to tag some of my favorite bloggers in the post too.

What I love most about these denim skirts is just how easy it is to style them. You could take a simple white tee like I did with any style shoe you like! I paired it with a nude block heel from Steve Madden and some white earrings to dress it up. You could also pair it with a crop tank, a body suit, a crop top, band tee (my favorite), and if you’re feeling frisky a Lacey bra. Throw on some mules, booties, or your favorite Converse, Keds, or Vans and you’re good to go!

Xoxo,

Dani
